‘We are encouraging our staff right across the City to take pride in their immediate work environment and to take it a step further and help ensure that all our facilities are the dignified spaces they should be for residents who visit us. Today we got all gloved up to clean and do what was needed to brighten up the Kraaifontein Municipal Building. I appreciate the energy I saw today, and want to motivate staff to approach their work spaces and facilities with the same enthusiasm during this month and the rest of the year. It is always our aim to provide our customers with clean, safe and pleasant facilities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
The Kraaifontein Subcouncil offices and public toilets were recently refurbished and the refurbishment of the cash office area within the municipal building is also currently under way. Improvements to the garden and landscaped area is currently being made and progress has been made with the restoration of the fountain outside of the building.
‘The Facilities Management staff will also be focusing on activities such as cleaning and checking all the City facility windows, air-conditioning units and applying a fresh coat of paint at our buildings,’ said Alderman Uys.
The spring cleaning initiative forms part of the City’s Visible Improvement Programme (VIP) for enhancements at municipal buildings across the city. Everything from waiting areas to cashier tellers, front gardens and landscaping, is being looked at with the main objective to refresh the customer service centres.
